Building a Church that Rescues People

1 Corinthians 3:13-15 (NLT) - 13 But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person's work has any value. 14 If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward. 15 But if the work is burned up, the builder will suffer great loss. The builder will be saved, but like someone barely escaping through a wall of flames.

Genesis 6:11-14 & 17-22 (NLT) - 11 Now God saw that the earth had become corrupt and was filled with violence. 12 God observed all this corruption in the world, for everyone on earth was corrupt. 13 So God said to Noah, "I have decided to destroy all living creatures, for they have filled the earth with violence. Yes, I will wipe them all out along with the earth! 14 "Build a large boat from cypress wood and waterproof it with tar, inside and out. Then construct decks and stalls throughout its interior. 17 "Look! I am about to cover the earth with a flood that will destroy every living thing that breathes. Everything on earth will die. 18 But I will confirm my covenant with you. So enter the boat-you and your wife and your sons and their wives. 19 Bring a pair of every kind of animal-a male and a female-into the boat with you to keep them alive during the flood. 20 Pairs of every kind of bird, and every kind of animal, and every kind of small animal that scurries along the ground, will come to you to be kept alive. 21 And be sure to take on board enough food for your family and for all the animals." 22 So Noah did everything exactly as God had commanded him.

Mentalities of an Ark Builder

1.Judgment is real.

  • Noah believed that what God was saying was true.
  • 2 Peter 3:9-10 (NLT) - 9 The Lord isn't really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment.

2. The ark is for rescue.

  • Noah realized the reason he was building an ark was to save people.
  • Jesus came for the SICK, not the WELL.
  • Mark 2:17 (NLT) - 17 When Jesus heard this, he told them, "Healthy people don't need a doctor-SICK PEOPLE DO. I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners."

3. God wants to use me to save people.

  • Noah was a partner with God in the salvation of mankind.
  • Don't wonder what God's plan is for our city, state, and nation; we are!

4. God is already working.

  • While Noah was working, God was bringing the animals.
    • You do what you can do. God will do what only He can do.

5. The door is still open.

  • As long as the door is open, there is an opportunity for someone else to get on board.

4 things you can do:

1. Pray

  • Pray that the Father would draw them to Jesus (John 6:44).
  • Pray against the spirit that blinds their minds (2 Corinthians 4:4).
  • Pray that they come to know God relationally (Romans 8:15).
  • Pray that believers will cross their paths and enter into positive relationships with them (Matthew 9:38).
  • Pray for a revelation of who Jesus is and what He has done for them (Ephesians 1:17).

2. Love

3. Speak

  • Romans 10:14-15 (NLT) - 14 But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? 15 And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, "How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!"

4. Bring
