Romans 12:2 ESV: Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

1. Change your STANDARD.

  • Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ.
• 2 Corinthians 3:17–18 ESV
  • 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
• We all have a standard of what we want our life to look like.
• Whatever or whoever your standard is will shape your values and pursuits.
• Jesus is our standard.
• Hebrews 12:1b–2a ESV
  • 1b Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2a looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith.

2. Change your SOURCE.

• Galatians 5:16–17 ESV
  • 16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.
• Your flesh can’t transform your flesh.
• Transformation is a spiritual work, so it must be developed from a spiritual source.

3. Change your SURROUNDINGS.

• Proverbs 13:20 ESV
  • Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.
• The people you surround yourself with will influence who you become.
• This is why you need to join a B-Group.
  • You need a mentor in the faith.
  • You need companions in the faith.
  • You need disciples in the faith.

4. Change your STATUS.

• Romans 6:11 ESV
  • So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.
• Though the change in status in God’s eyes is instant, the change of that status in our mind is incremental.
• God sees you as a new creation, but the question is, do you see yourself as a new creation?
• You will live out the identity you believe you have.
