Daring Faith Says Amen

Pastor Jonathan Stockstill

Recap: In week one, we learned that daring faith steps out. It may seem like an invisible floor, but true faith steps out like Peter did on the water. When God calls, we step out. Last week, we learned that daring faith separates. Abraham had to separate from Lot in order to see God's next step for him. Sometimes we're frozen in our faith because we won't separate from a person, behavior, belief, or baggage. This week, we will talk about how daring faith says AMEN!

Main Text - Romans 4:16-22

2 Chronicles 16:9 (NLT) - 9 The eyes of the LORD search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him...

1. Say amen to the NATURE of God.

  • Romans 4:17 (NLT) - 17 That is what the Scriptures mean when God told him, "I have made you the father of many nations." This happened because Abraham believed in the God who brings the dead back to life and who creates new things out of nothing.
  • Jeremiah 32:27 (NLT) - 27 "I am the LORD, the God of all the peoples of the world. Is anything too hard for me?
  • It's time we say amen to the God of the impossible, the God of creation, who brings the dead to life and who creates anything He wants.

2. Say amen to the PROMISE of God.

  • Romans 4:16 (NLT) - 16 So the PROMISE is received by faith. It is given as a free gift. And we are all certain to receive it, whether or not we live according to the law of Moses, if we have faith like Abraham's. For Abraham is the father of all who believe.
  • What has He said in His Word?
    • A good place to start is by saying amen to what He has already said in His Word.
    • What promises has He given to you?
    • Promises about provision, protection, salvation, healing, abundance, fulfillment, ministry.
  • What is He saying to you by His Spirit?

3. Say amen to the PROCESS of God.

  • Romans 4:18–22 (NLT) - 18 Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping-believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, "That's how many descendants you will have!" 19 And Abraham's faith did not weaken, even though, at about 100 years of age, he figured his body was as good as dead-and so was Sarah's womb. 20 Abraham never wavered in believing God's promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. 21 He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises. 22 And because of Abraham's faith, God counted him as righteous.
  • HE will do it; YOU will only have to believe. Stop trying to MAKE it happen.

For what are you being challenged to believe God? Is your faith fading away or growing stronger in the area of your challenge?
