Ezekiel: Three Visions from Glory

Pastor Larry Stockstill

I. A vision is a perspective:

"The heavens were opened and I saw visions of God" (Ezekiel 1:4 NKJV).

II. A perspective of HEAVEN (Ezekiel 1)

Where Ezekiel was:

  • Ezekiel was in captivity in Babylon. It was 900 miles from Jerusalem in one of the hottest places on earth.

What Ezekiel saw:

  • He saw the living creatures.
  • He saw wheels and eyes.
  • He saw a throne.

What this vision means to us: God's glory is bigger than our problems.

  • Jehoshaphat: "We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you" (2 Chronicles 20:12 NIV).
  • Corrie ten Boom: "There is no panic in heaven! God has no problems, only plans. If you look at the world, you'll be distressed. If you look within, you'll be depressed. If you look at heaven, you'll be at rest."
  • Paul: "Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth" (Colossians 3:2 NKJV).
  • Bro. Roy's favorite verse: "You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You" (Isaiah 26:3 NKJV).

III. A vision of healing (Ezekiel 37:11)

What Ezekiel saw: The Spirit showed Ezekiel a vision of a huge valley with scattered bones across its entirety. They were dry, disconnected, and bleached white in the hot desert sun. This is a picture of broken, dead, dysfunctional relationships.

What this vision means to us: God's glory can restore our relationships.

  • You must prophesy to your dead relationships.
  • God can heal all your relationships. He can put anything back together again: a marriage, a family, a nation, a church, a city.

IV. A vision of harvest (Ezekiel 47)

What Ezekiel saw:

  • The prophet saw something starting to flow out of the eastern gate of the temple. It started as a trickle, turned into a stream, turned into a river, and turned into a flood. It flowed thirty miles east to the Dead Sea.
  • The Dead Sea came to life. Fish began to spawn. Before long, there were fishermen standing for miles on the shore, catching huge quantities of fish.

What this vision means to us: God's glory can give us our harvest.
