John 5:17 (NLT) But Jesus replied, “My Father is always working, and so am I.”
John 4:34 (NLT) Then Jesus explained: “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work.
John 9:4 (NLT) We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can work.
1. He’s still leaving the 99 for the 1.
- Luke 15:4-5 (NLT) 4 “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? 5 And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders.
- Luke 15:7 (NLT) In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away.
- Jesus is going to desperate people.
2. He’s still building His Church.
- Matthew 16:16-18 (NLT) 16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” 17 Jesus replied, “You are blessed, Simon son of John, because my Father in heaven has revealed this to you. You did not learn this from any human being. 18 Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.
- If you travel the world, you feel how lost it is.
- Jesus is the hope of the world, and he’s chosen the church as his instrument of hope.
- Our gathering is ENCOURAGING.
- Our gathering is DIRECTING.
- Our gathering is WAR.
3. He is still using passionate people.
- Acts 9:11-12 (NLT) 11 The Lord said, “Go over to Straight Street, to the house of Judas. When you get there, ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul. He is praying to me right now. 12 I have shown him a vision of a man named Ananias coming in and laying hands on him so he can see again.”
- Acts 9:15 (NLT) But the Lord said, “Go, for Saul is my chosen instrument to take my message to the Gentiles and to kings, as well as to the people of Israel.
- Our devotion:
- The kingdom must be your first priority.
- The harvest is like a real harvest; it ruins if not brought in.
- Our first pursuit is the Lord, then the work he’s called us to.
