I. Key passage-2 Corinthians 9:7 NASB
A. "Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart."
- God's purpose is waiting on your purpose.
- When it is YOUR purpose, it becomes a DELIGHT.
- You cannot be halfhearted and undecided in your purpose.
- Mary connected her purpose (the perfume) with the purpose of God (Christ's death on the cross).
II. Three principles of purpose
A. When I release my SMALL purpose,
God releases His ABUNDANT purpose.
- "And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed" (2 Corinthians 9:8 NASB).
- "Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us" (Ephesians 3:20 NASB).
B. I cannot go BEYOND His purpose for my life.
- God's purpose was "where" and "when" you would be born.
- "For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep" (Acts 13:36 NASB).
- God's purpose was for you to possess certain gifts, talents, and assignments.
- "Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them" (Acts 13:2 NASB).
C. When I connect to God's purpose, nothing can STOP me until I fulfill His purpose.
- "And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose" (Romans 8:28 NASB).
III. Final verse
- "For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil" (1 John 3:8 KJV).
