1 Chronicles 29:11 NLT: “Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things.”
1. Journey of mind-set: from poverty to prosperity
- Psalm 81:10 NLT: “For it was I, the Lord your God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it with good things.”
- You will become what you behold and believe.
- Poverty mind-set: “There isn’t enough.”
- Prosperity mind-set: “There’s more than enough.”
- “People with a poverty mentality tend to see everything in terms of win-lose. There is only so much; and if someone else has it, that means there will be less for me.” ~ Stephen Covey
- Taking full responsibility for and accepting your life, circumstances, feelings, and future is empowering. If you feel as though you aren’t in control of your life or that you are a victim, it’s very difficult to have an abundance mind-set.
- God has to change what you believe by helping you behold a different reality, the truth found in His Word.
2. Journey of identity: from slave to steward
- Slave: BONDAGE
- To get out of slavery, you must identify the captor, whether consumerism, materialism, entitlement, debt, benevolence, or a victim mentality.
- A slave mentality produces fear, confusion, and greed.
- Address and acknowledge where you are, and stop the bleeding.
- Soldier
- The first step out of slavery is OBEDIENCE. Commit to living an obedient lifestyle.
- Firstfruits
- Tithe
- Debt elimination—consumer debt first
- Taxes and insurance
- Unity and harmony in the household—God can only bless unity.
- Sower: “Soldier” is about the tithe, while “sower” is above the 10 percent.
- This is all about FAITHFULNESS.
- Your business vocation becomes your ministry.
- Steward: Taking care of someone else’s resources
- This is all about being ENTRUSTED.
- Your ministry of giving becomes a calling.
- Supporting only kingdom businesses
3. Journey of the heart: from guarded to generous
- Four stages of giving
- Chore
- Habit
- Priority
- Hunger
