1 Kings 16:30-33 (ESV) -  And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the Lord, more than all who were before him. 31 And as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, he took for his wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and went and served Baal and worshiped him. 32 He erected an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he built in Samaria. 33 And Ahab made an Asherah. Ahab did more to provoke the Lord, the God of Israel, to anger than all the kings of Israel who were before him. 

1 Kings 17:1 (ESV) - “Now Elijah the Tishbite, of Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, before whom I stand, there shall be neither dew nor rain these years, except by my word.”

The five Weaknesses of Ahab:

1. Weak in his DECISIONS:

1. Strong leaders make their decisions with their convictions, not with their emotions. 
2. Elijah did not follow his emotions in his decisions, he followed his spirit. God sent him to the king to announce the judgment on Baal, (the rain God) and he did not hesitate because of fear.

2. Weak in his PRINCIPLES:

1. The second weakness of King Ahab was that he was not able to follow his principles (right and wrong). 
2. “There was none who sold himself to do what was evil in the sight of the Lord like Ahab, whom Jezebel his wife incited” (1 Kings 21:25).

3. Weak in his RESPONSIBILITY:

1. Ahab blamed Elijah for all his bad choices instead of changing his behavior.
2. We all make mistakes. Strong leaders also repent. If you make a mistake, take responsibility for it and make the changes necessary to correct it. Don’t blame others. God forgives failure the moment you own it and repent of it.

4. Weak in his EMOTIONS:

1. “But Naboth said to Ahab, “The Lord forbid that I should give you the inheritance of my fathers.” And Ahab went into his house vexed and sullen because of what Naboth the Jezreelite had said to him, for he had said, “I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers.” And he lay down on his bed and turned away his face and would eat no food.” (1 Kings 21:3). He got his “binky” and pulled it over his head!
2. Strong leaders control their anger and don’t have to get their way to be happy in life.

5. Weak in his CONVICTIONS:

1. “And Elijah came near to all the people and said, “How long will you go limping between two different opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him.” (1 Kings 18:21)
2. “You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons.” (1 Cor. 10:21)
3. Strong leaders choose who they will serve and do it wholeheartedly. 
4. Joshua told Israel: “Choose this day whom you will serve…but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Josh. 24:15).
