Leviticus 5:5-6 (NLT) - 5 When you become aware of your guilt in any of these ways, you must confess your sin. 6 Then you must bring to the Lord as the penalty for your sin a female from the flock, either a sheep or a goat. This is a sin offering with which the priest will purify you from your sin, making you right with the Lord.
Leviticus 5:13 (NLT) - 13 Through this process, the priest will purify those who are guilty of any of these sins, making them right with the Lord, and they will be forgiven. The rest of the flour will belong to the priest, just as with the grain offering."
Matthew 27:45-46 (NLT) - 45 At noon, darkness fell across the whole land until three o'clock. 46 At about three o'clock, Jesus called out with a loud voice, "Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?" which means "My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?"
Matthew 27:50-53 (NLT) - 50 Then Jesus shouted out again, and he released his spirit. 51 At that moment the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. The earth shook, rocks split apart, 52 and tombs opened. The bodies of many godly men and women who had died were raised from the dead. 53 They left the cemetery after Jesus' resurrection, went into the holy city of Jerusalem, and appeared to many people.
Purpose - Cleansed people from unintentional or accidental sin; it was also symbolic of cleansing our sinful nature.
How it applies to us
Seeing Jesus in it
Purpose - Also called the trespass offering. The first sacrifice dealt with our nature and who we are; this one dealt with what we've done. This offering was always associated with paying back the damages done to whoever you trespassed against.

**Purpose - **A pleasing sacrifice to God. The whole animal was consumed on the altar as a symbol of complete surrender.

Seeing Jesus in it
**Purpose - **To dedicate the best to God. It was taken from the harvest and presented as the fruits of labor. It was pleasing to God.

Seeing Jesus in it
Purpose - To share a meal with God. This offering was given to come into His presence and enjoy His presence. It was pleasing to God.
