Revelation 4:1-3 (NLT) - 1 Then as I looked, I saw a door standing open in heaven, and the same voice I had heard before spoke to me like a trumpet blast. The voice said, "Come up here, and I will show you what must happen after this." 2 And instantly I was in the Spirit, and I saw a throne in heaven and someone sitting on it. 3 The one sitting on the throne was as brilliant as gemstones-like jasper and carnelian. And the glow of an emerald circled his throne like a rainbow.

1. The DOOR

"I saw a door standing open in heaven."

• Worship is an opportunity.
• Genesis 28:12-13 (NLT) - 12 As he slept, he dreamed of a stairway that reached from the earth up to heaven. And he saw the angels of God going up and down the stairway. 13 At the top of the stairway stood the Lord.

2. The INVITATION

"The voice said, 'Come up here.'"

• Worship is an invitation.
• God WANTS us in His presence.
• Psalm 27:8 (NLT) - 8 My heart has heard you say, "Come and talk with me." And my heart responds, "Lord, I am coming."

2. The SPIRIT

"I was in the Spirit."

• Worship must be done in the Spirit.
• John 4:24 (NLT) - 24 For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth."
• 1 Peter 2:5 (NLT) - 5 And you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple. What's more, you are his holy priests. Through the mediation of Jesus Christ, you offer spiritual sacrifices that please God.

3. The THRONE ROOM

"I saw a throne in heaven."

• Worship happens in the place of highest authority.
• Hebrews 4:16 (NLT) - 16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

4. The ONE

"The one sitting on the throne was as brilliant as gemstones."

• Worship ultimately goes to the One sitting on the throne.
• Romans 14:11 (NLT) - 11 For the Scriptures say, "'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bend to me, and every tongue will declare allegiance praise to God.'"

This weekend we are going to give as an act of worship.

• We have an OPPORTUNITY to give.
• We have an INVITATION to give.
• Our giving is a SPIRITUAL thing.
• Our giving goes up to the THRONE ROOM.
• Our giving is directed to the ONE on the throne.

Revelation 4:10-11 (NLT) - 10 the twenty-four elders fall down and worship the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever). And they lay their crowns before the throne and say, 11 "You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased."
