The Beautiful Good News

Pastor Jonathan Stockstill

Romans 1:16-17 (NASB) - For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "But the righteous man shall live by faith."

The gospel is GOOD NEWS.

  • The gospel we have is GREAT NEWS.
  • The gospel is not:
    • Old news
    • Bad news
    • Fake news

The gospel has POWER.

  • For the GIVER
    • John 4:34 NLT - Then Jesus explained: "My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work."
  • For the RECEIVER

The gospel demands a RESPONSE.

It must be received - How do I know if I'm really saved?

  • Acts 20:21 NLT - I have had one message for Jews and Greeks alike-the necessity of repenting from sin and turning to God, and of having faith in our Lord Jesus.
  • Repent from sin.
  • Turn to God.
  • Believe in Jesus Christ.

It must be passed on.

  • The lepers who found the treasure
    • 2 Kings 7:9 NLT - Finally, they said to each other, "This is not right. This is a day of good news, and we aren't sharing it with anyone! If we wait until morning, some calamity will certainly fall upon us. Come on, let's go back and tell the people at the palace."
  • You will give an account for your handling of the gospel.
    • Did you give it?
    • Did you demonstrate it?
