**Matthew 6:9-13 NKJV: **"In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."
Six Perspectives of Prayer
1. God is FAMILY: "Our Father in heaven."
- This gives us confidence in prayer.
- Romans 5:2 NLT: "Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God's glory."
- Romans 8:29-30 NLT: "For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory."
2. God is HOLY: "Hallowed be Your name."
- This gives us reverence in prayer.
- Hebrews 12:28-29 NLT: "Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe. For our God is a devouring fire."
- Psalm 25:14 ESV: "The friendship of the Lord is for those who fear him, and he makes known to them his covenant."
3. God is PRIORITY: "Your Kingdom come. Your will be done."
- This gives us perspective in prayer.
- His kingdom is our priority.
- His will is our priority.
4. We need PROVISION: "Give us this day our daily bread."
- Man is not my source.
- 2 Corinthians 9:10 ESV: "He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness."
- Philippians 4:19 ESV: "And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."
5. We need FORGIVENESS: "Forgive us our debts."
- Only God can save my soul.
- I can be released only if I release others.
- Matthew 6:14-15 NLT: "If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins."
6. We need PROTECTION: "Deliver us from the evil one."
- I need God to fight for me.
- Ephesians 6:10-12 NIV: "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devilʼs schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."
Hey, Father, I'm so glad we are family. I'll never forget that You are in charge of it all. You deserve my love and deep reverence. You are my priority, and I want Your will to be done more than my own. I ask You to meet my earthly needs. I ask You to forgive me for my sins and help me forgive others of theirs. Please protect me from the evil one. At the end of the day, I trust You above all others and will worship and serve You no matter what.
