1. Heaven is about a person.
- Heaven is more about a person than a place.
- Luke 23:43 (NLT) — 43 And Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
- Psalm 24:3–4 (NLT) — 3 Who may climb the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? 4 Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies.
2. Heaven is about perfection.
- Psalm 16:11 (NASB95) — 11 You will make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.
3. Heaven is about praise.
- Isaiah 6:1–5 (NASB95) — 1 In the year of King Uzziah’s death I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, lofty and exalted, with the train of His robe filling the temple. 2 Seraphim stood above Him, each having six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one called out to another and said, “Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord of hosts, The whole earth is full of His glory.” 4 And the foundations of the thresholds trembled at the voice of him who called out, while the temple was filling with smoke. 5 Then I said, “Woe is me, for I am ruined! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I live among a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.”
- Zephaniah 3:17 (NLT) — 17 “For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”
4. Heaven is about people.
5. Heaven is prepared.
- “Heaven is a prepared place for prepared people.”
- John 14:1–6(NLT) — 1 “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. 2 There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? 3 When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. 4 And you know the way to where I am going.” 5 “No, we don’t know, Lord,” Thomas said. “We have no idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?” 6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”
