Jesus is better than ANGELS.

  • Hebrews 1:3-4 (NLT) - 3 The Son radiates God's own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven. 4 This shows that the Son is far greater than the angels, just as the name God gave him is greater than their names.
  • Hebrew reverence for angels-burning bush, cloud and fire, Joshua conquest, Manoah, Gideon, fourth man in the fire
  • He's better than Christian "experiences" we have: dreams, visions, encounters.
    • Galatians 1:8 (NLT) - Let God's curse fall on anyone, including us or even an angel from heaven, who preaches a different kind of Good News than the one we preached to you.
  • He's better than false gods.
  • He's better than idols we worship.

Jesus is better than MOSES.

  • Hebrews 3:3-6 (NLT) - 3 But Jesus deserves far more glory than Moses, just as a person who builds a house deserves more praise than the house itself. 4 For every house has a builder, but the one who built everything is God. 5 Moses was certainly faithful in God's house as a servant. His work was an illustration of the truths God would reveal later. 6 But Christ, as the Son, is in charge of God's entire house. And we are God's house, if we keep our courage and remain confident in our hope in Christ.
  • See John 6:30-33 (NLT). "Give us bread like our ancestor Moses."
  • Paul had to forsake the law in order to embrace Christ.
    • Philippians 3:5-8 (NLT) - 5 I was circumcised when I was eight days old. I am a pure-blooded citizen of Israel and a member of the tribe of Benjamin-a real Hebrew if there ever was one! I was a member of the Pharisees, who demand the strictest obedience to the Jewish law. 6 I was so zealous that I harshly persecuted the church. And as for righteousness, I obeyed the law without fault. 7 I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. 8 Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ.

Jesus is better than AARON.

  • Hebrews 7:23-26 (NLT) - 23 There were many priests under the old system, for death prevented them from remaining in office. 24 But because Jesus lives forever, his priesthood lasts forever. 25 Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf. 26 He is the kind of high priest we need because he is holy and blameless, unstained by sin. He has been set apart from sinners and has been given the highest place of honor in heaven.

Jesus is better than our SACRIFICES.

  • Hebrews 9:12-14 (NLT) - 12 With his own blood-not the blood of goats and calves-he entered the Most Holy Place once for all time and secured our redemption forever. 13 Under the old system, the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer could cleanse people's bodies from ceremonial impurity. 14 Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God. For by the power of the eternal Spirit, Christ offered himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins.
  • We are now free to love.

So let us...

  • Hebrews 10:22-25 (NLT) - 22 Let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ's blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. 24 Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. 25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
  • Let us go right into the presence of God.
  • Let us hold tightly to what we profess.
  • Let us motivate one another to love and good works.
  • Let us not neglect our meeting together.
