We Are Building Highways

Pastor Jonathan Stockstill

Isaiah 35:8,10 (NLT) - 8 And a great road will go through that once deserted land. It will be named the Highway of Holiness. Evil-minded people will never travel on it. It will be only for those who walk in God's ways; fools will never walk there...10 Those who have been ransomed by the Lord will return. They will enter Jerusalem singing, crowned with everlasting joy. Sorrow and mourning will disappear, and they will be filled with joy and gladness.

1. We are building a highway for the KING.

Isaiah 40:3–5 (NLT) - 3 Listen! It's the voice of someone shouting, "Clear the way through the wilderness for the Lord! Make a straight highway through the wasteland for our God! 4 Fill in the valleys, and level the mountains and hills. Straighten the curves, and smooth out the rough places. 5 Then the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all people will see it together. The Lord has spoken!"

  • The straight highway is FAITH.
  • Fill in the valleys - GRACE.
  • Level the mountains - HUMILITY.
  • Straighten the curves - CHANGE.
  • Smooth out the rough places - FORGIVENESS.

2. We are building a highway for the KINGDOM.

  • The highway is built with VISION.
  • The highway is built with PRAYER.
  • The highway is built with RELATIONSHIPS.
    • "THE KINGDOM MOVES AT THE PACE OF RELATIONSHIPS."

3. We are building a highway for the LOST.

  • We are building roads for every lost person to find their way home.
  • Zacchaeus - sinful people - Luke 19
  • Bartimaeus - sick people - Mark 10:46 (NLT) - 46 Then they reached Jericho, and as Jesus and his disciples left town, a large crowd followed him. A blind beggar named Bartimaeus (son of Timaeus) was sitting beside the road.
  • Good Samaritan - battered people
  • The Prodigal Son - returning people
