- We are servants - We are here to serve, not be served.
- We are missionaries - We have been sent on a mission by God and we
will fulfill it.
- We are family - God has placed us in a spiritual family. We talk about God, We pray together, we are accountable, and we are there.
- We are Disciples.
The four areas of discipleship (Mark 4:13-20):
1. “Knowledge”: “The sower sows the Word”
- “If you abide in My Word, you are truly My disciples, and you will know the truth and the truth will set you free”
(John 8:31-32)
- “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge”
(Hosea 4:6)
- “I have hidden your Word in my heart that I might not sin against You” (Psalm 119:11, NLT)
2. “Obedience”: “They endure for a while” (v. 17)
- “Obedience is endurance.”
- “You were running well. Who hindered you from
obeying the truth?” (Galatians 5:7)
- “Tribulation means pressure.”
- Obedience: “following the will of God regardless of the pressure.”
3. “Relationship”: “Loving God more than things”
- “Demas, in love with this present world, has deserted me.” (2 Timothy 4:10)
- “Cares”—worries of the world that distract us from God.
- “Riches”—the elusive pursuit of money that can disappear.
- “Desires”—fascination with other things you start to pursue.
- “Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these?” (John 21:15)
4. “Fruitfulness”: “Living for eternal rewards”
- Harvest: “Already the one who reaps is receiving wages and
gathering fruit for eternal life” (John. 4:36)
- Helps: “Let our people learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to help cases of urgent needs, and not be unfruitful.” (Titus 3:14)
- Generosity: “Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit.” (Philippians 4:17)
