JESUS REVEALS THE FATHER.

John 1:18 NLT: “No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us.”

JESUS REFLECTS THE FATHER.

**John 12:44–45 NLT: **“44 Jesus shouted to the crowds, ‘If you trust me, you are trusting not only me, but also God who sent me.’ 45 For when you see me, you are seeing the one who sent me.”

JESUS RELATES TO THE FATHER.

We learn how to relate to our creator through how Jesus related to Him.

1. Jesus honored the Father.

  • Everything Jesus did was to bring honor to His Father.
    • John 12:28 NASB: “ ‘Father, glorify Your name.’ Then a voice came out of heaven: ‘I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.’ ”
  • He lived to honor the Father.
  • His holiness demands honor; it is who He is.
    • “Our Father in heaven, holy is your name.”
  • We honor God in our honesty.
  • We honor God in our humility.
  • We honor God in our lifestyle.

2. Jesus obeyed the Father.

  • John 15:10 NLT: “When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.”
  • There is a connection between obedience and love. When we obey, we demonstrate our love.
  • Obedience is also watching and doing. Jesus was an emulator of the Father.
    • “I only do the things I see my Father doing.”
    • “My Father is working, and so must I.”
  • 1 John 2:4–5 (NASB95) — 4 The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; 5 but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him:

3. Jesus loved the Father.

  • John 3:35 NLT: “The Father loves his Son and has put everything into his hands.”

4. Jesus trusted the Father.

  • “Into Your hands, I commit my spirit.”
  • “Man doesn’t live by bread alone, but every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”
  • “Not My will, but Yours be done.”

5. Jesus prayed to the Father.

  • Fellowship proves relationship.
  • Prayer is based on:
    • He sees me.
    • He hears me.
    • He knows me.
    • He loves me.
