Genesis 24:63–67 (NLT) — 63 One evening as he was walking and meditating in the fields, he looked up and saw the camels coming. 64 When Rebekah looked up and saw Isaac, she quickly dismounted from her camel. 65 “Who is that man walking through the fields to meet us?” she asked the servant. And he replied, “It is my master.” So Rebekah covered her face with her veil. 66 Then the servant told Isaac everything he had done. 67 And Isaac brought Rebekah into his mother Sarah’s tent, and she became his wife. He loved her deeply, and she was a special comfort to him after the death of his mother.

Four elements that will help you with the RIGHT ONE:

1. PROVIDENCE

  1. There are two paths: Your way vs. God’s way
  2. Providence requires trust
  3. Providence doesn’t rid you of the responsibility

2. PRACTICALITY

  1. “She’s hot” syndrome; “He’s successful” syndrome
  2. The practicality of marriage
    1. Money doesn’t knock on the door
    2. Dishes don’t wash themselves
    3. Clothes don’t fold themselves
    4. Kids don’t raise themselves
    5. Meals don’t cook themselves
    6. Bills don’t pay themselves
  3. Meaningful questions you SHOULD care about.
    1. Are they about OTHERS or SELF
    2. Are they ADAPTABLE or UNRELENTING
    3. Are they DILIGENT or LAZY
    4. Are they SPIRITUAL or CARNAL

3. PROTECTION

  1. A good rule of thumb is “You don’t know” :)
  2. There are so many things that seem right in the moment
    1. “We have chemistry”
    2. “When our eyes met, my heart fluttered”
    3. “He’s so funny”
    4. “The world is against us, it must be right!”
  3. Learn to trust PARENTS
  4. Learn to trust PASTORS
  5. Learn to trust PEERS

4. PURITY

  1. Let’s talk about culture
    1. 98% of people engage in premarital sex
  2. Christianity is counter-culture
    1. Immorality simply means, no morals. There is no right and wrong.
    2. Christianity says there is right and wrong as relates to our sexuality.
  3. Premarital sex clouds perspective.
  4. Premarital sex promotes distrust.
  5. Premarital sex is the act of covenant without the promise of it.
