Are You Sure?

B-Group Lesson Part 2 of 4

Big Idea:

“Now faith is being sure.” In other words, to be “sure” is to be “ASSURED.” It means to have a warranty, to guarantee, to co-sign, to bail out. True faith “assures” you. So how do you become sure, totally persuaded, without a doubt, relaxed in the reality of something? As believers, we want to be confident that we can walk out this life in faith.

Key Scriptures:

“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” - Hebrews 11:1

Main Points:

Our faith becomes certain when we are:

  1. Sure about God’s will.
    1. If you aren’t sure if something is the will of God, you can never have faith for it.
    2. Not everything is His will → Lazarus’ death/Storm on the sea of Galilee
    3. God’s will comes out of God’s nature.
      1. God’s nature is good; Satan’s nature is evil.
      2. God wants you free from sin, disease, poverty, mental torment.
  2. Sure about God’s promise.
    1. A promise is a declaration of what someone will do.
    2. Faith is about God keeping His Word.
    3. Be aware of what God has already promised in the Bible:
      1. Forgiveness of sins
      2. Physical healing (James 5:14-15)
      3. Financial provision (Philippians 4:19)
  3. Sure about God’s power.
    1. “By faith, we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible” (Hebrews 11:3)
    2. There is a natural world, and there is a spiritual world.
    3. Faith is a choice to believe in God’s power in the spiritual world.
    4. Faith is being sure of what you see in your heart even when natural evidence contradicts it.

Discussion Questions:

  1. What are the promises from God you are holding onto for yourself and your family?
  2. Which point from this lesson do you need to increase your faith?
  3. Have you experienced God’s supernatural power in your life?

Challenge

Take a few minutes to write down all the areas you have seen God faithful in your life. Pray for God to challenge your faith to see His will, promises, and power in your life.
