Build Your Church

B-Group Lesson Part 4 of 3

Big Idea:
We are building a church that will serve as a beacon of hope for generations to come. Our commitment to steward what God has entrusted to us begins with looking toward the future.

Key Scripture:

Matthew 28:16-20 - 16 Then the eleven disciples left for Galilee, going to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him—but some of them doubted! 18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Main Idea: Building on Bethany's mission statement, “Bringing all people into the life, family, and purpose of God.” We focus on 5 fundamental building blocks to nurture the health of our church.

1. Prayer

Prayer is foundational to our identity as a local church. Each week, whether in personal or corporate prayer, we are building on a foundation of time in God’s presence.

Discussion Question:

How has the emphasis of prayer at Bethany impacted your life?

2. Evangelism

We live our lives in such a way that we bring God’s love and His truth with us everywhere we go. We can impact those around us and bring them into the kingdom of God.

Discussion Question:
Share briefly about your personal journey to know Jesus or join the local church. How has someone else impacted your life on this journey?

3. Belonging

Building community within the church is vital for a strong and healthy spiritual journey. Connecting with others brings joy and strength to our lives.

Discussion Question:
How can we be good stewards of our community and help others become a part?

4. Discipleship

Each one of us is called to not only be a disciple but to disciple others. Bethany has so many wonderful ways to plug in, be a part of what God is doing, and to be trained in God's word.

Discussion Question:
Do you have someone you’re discipling? How has discipling someone changed even your walk with the Lord?

5. Mission

Giving our time and resources for missions, whether locally or globally, is an act of faith that demonstrates our care for souls. Though it requires sacrifice, it is never in vain when done for God’s purpose.

Discussion Question:
If you have been on a mission trip how did it impact your life?

Conclusion

This was Jesus' command to His disciples, and it remains true for us today: He is building His church a
