God's Dream in Your Heart

B-Group Lesson Part 4 of 4

God has planted seeds inside every one of our hearts. These seeds are meant to be cared for and watered to see them be fulfilled in our lives. However, if these seeds are not cared for, they can cause our hearts to become a place that works against God’s purpose for our lives. This is why it’s so important for God to continually water our hearts with His Word and with the Holy Spirit, as well as guarding our hearts to be in the proper condition. As a result, we can walk out our faith to see God bring those dreams to fulfillment.

KEY SCRIPTURES: “‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the LORD” (Isaiah 55:8 NIV).

2 WAYS TO GUARD OUR HEARTS:

1. Humble Heart

  • Pride not only limits the growth process of the seeds in our hearts but also limits God’s grace and mercy in our lives.
  • When we remain humble, we allow God to work in our hearts.
  • Ways that we can have a humble heart
    • Word of God
    • Holy Spirit
    • Other people

2. Open Heart

  • The condition of our hearts can either be a place that allows those dreams to grow or to wither. (Example: the flower planted in the flower pot can only grow to the size of the pot.)
  • Because we know that God’s dreams are bigger than our own dreams, our faith can grow as we see God work in our lives.
  • Sometimes we can limit our own growth process by not being open to His way to water those seeds.
  • When we stay open to God’s leading in our lives, we can see those seeds grow into His plans for our lives.

Discussion Questions:

  1. What is one dream God has given you?
  2. What would you say is the current condition of that dream? (hopeless, forgotten, full of faith)
  3. What are ways God has brought humility into your life?
  4. How can we stay open to what God has for us?

Challenge

This week pray for those dreams God has planted in your heart. Pray that your heart stays humble to His ways and open to His leading.
