In the Mix

B-Group Lesson Part 3 of 3

Key Scriptures:

The Big Idea: Blended families are unique, often bringing complexities and questions. God has a plan for each family, marked by redemption, hope, and joy. Ruth's story illustrates these principles as she navigates her own blended family dynamics.

1. Seek Counsel

Ruth sought guidance and wisdom, highlighting the importance of seeking godly counsel in blended families.

Question: Share a moment when seeking godly counsel helped you through a difficult decision.

2. Receive Healing

Naomi's bitterness contrasted with Ruth's healing approach, emphasizing the need for healing from past hurts for all family members to thrive.

Question: What obstacles make healing difficult, and how can successful healing be achieved?

3. Conversations About Placement

Boaz placed Ruth in a position of favor.

Addressing the question of "what's my place?" is crucial in blended families.

Question: Why is assuming one's place in the family dangerous?

4. Commit to the Process

Building trust is key in blended families, requiring a commitment to the process as trust is earned, not given.

Boaz went through the proper channels to be Ruth’s kinsman redeemer. Sticking to the process gives the family a strong foundation of trust.

Question: Share an experience where you committed to building trust with someone.

5. Redemption is God's Plan

God used Ruth's tragedy to bring redemption, ultimately blessing her family line.

If we apply God's principles, He will redeem, restore, and bless our families.

Challenge

Identify one area in your family where you can apply the principles from Ruth's story this week, and take intentional steps towards it.
