Bgroup Lesson Part 5 of 12
We all have a desire to grow in relationships. To be seen and known. As a disciple, John knew Jesus in a deeply personal way. This personal closeness with Jesus gave him an understanding of how loved he was by God.
Let's read what John says about growing closer to Jesus.
Key Scripture: 1 John 1:1-3
Growing closer in our relationship with Jesus will require something from us. What once stole our time and attention will be forced to fade away. John gave us some great insight on how we can grow closer to Jesus each day.
God’s word has the ability to draw us into a closer connection with Him. David has a beautiful response to the Lord in Psalm 27:8 when he says, “My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “Lord I am coming.’”
Question: Can you share a moment in your life when God’s word not only brought you closer to Him but gave you a sense of His goodness?
Jesus will always give us clarity and point us in the right direction.
Question: Can you share a testimony of a time in your life when drawing closer to Jesus has brought clarity to a situation?
When we intentionally place our eyes on Jesus, He becomes our focus. Even our attitudes can change as we set our eyes on Him.
The sweetest gift of a close relationship is the gift of intimacy. When we know God, we grow in intimacy with Him because we trust in His goodness.
John walked through great suffering, much of which we cannot imagine, but he had been touched by the One worth suffering for. It is said that in his last days on earth, his focus was for others to know Jesus and His love for them.
