Bgroup Lesson Part 8 of 9
The law, while having the potential to improve society, has never changed the heart of Man. We can know the rules, but they mean nothing to us if our hearts are not changed. We need God’s grace and truth.
Key Scripture: John 1:11-18
11 He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. 12 But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. 13 They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God. 14 So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son. 15 John testified about him when he shouted to the crowds, “This is the one I was talking about when I said, ‘Someone is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me.’” 16 From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another. 17 For the law was given through Moses, but God’s unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us.
It gives us the ability to see that the world is inherently broken. We can understand that others are just as broken as we are. The power to give grace comes from the ability to receive it ourselves. When we genuinely believe God has grace for us, we want to give it to others freely.
Question: How has God’s grace impacted your own life, or do you struggle to believe that His grace exists for you and in every area of your life?
This isn’t something we simply create for ourselves. Truth is learned, not made. Grace is never really given without truth. If we believe God’s word, which says those who do not know Jesus will experience eternal separation, then we are not showing true grace unless we point people to Him.
Question: Have you experienced moments in your life when you wanted to form your own truth, as opposed to living based off of God’s truth?
Let us step into this week knowing that we can receive grace and share His truth with those around us. Perhaps you have a family member or a friend who needs more of God's grace, as we all do. God has given you the ability to be the tangible evidence of Him to others.
